Government Adjusts Timeline for “Eco-Friendly Transport” Implementation Across Regions
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a new procedure for issuing custom vehicle license plates, which will now be handled directly by the enterprise Uzavtomotobelgi.
Additionally, the government has revised the rollout schedule for the vehicle emissions reduction system “Eco-Friendly Transport,” which has been under development since spring 2024. Deployment of the system is now expected to begin on 1 January 2026.
Full implementation in Tashkent is scheduled for 2027. Between 2028 and 2030, the system will be introduced in Nukus, regional centers, and designated ecological zones, with nationwide coverage planned from 2031 to 2034.
Vehicle compliance with environmental standards will be assessed based on manufacturers’ data regarding ecological class (“Euro”). If such documentation is unavailable, diagnostics will be conducted by the Center for Innovative Projects and Public Service under the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Vehicles will receive green, yellow, or red stickers depending on the level of emissions. Sticker issuance in Tashkent will begin in January 2026, with a complete ecological assessment of all city vehicles planned by early 2028.
For Nukus and regional centers, the assessment deadline is extended to January 2031, while for other regions, full evaluation is expected by early 2035.
