Golden House and Ministry of Construction deny plans for development in "Anhor" and "Navruz" Parks
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Uzbekistan and real estate developer Golden House have denied rumors about plans to build residential and commercial complexes in Anhor Lokomotiv and Navruz parks in Tashkent.
Recent social media posts featuring visualizations of a high-rise development project in the parks sparked public concern, prompting activists to launch a petition against potential construction.
However, the Ministry of Construction dismissed these claims.
"There is absolutely no approved project documentation for residential construction in Anhor and Navruz parks. As of today, the parks remain unchanged, and no construction is planned," stated Azizkhon Usmanov, Head of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning Development.
Aziz Sharafutdinov, Director of Anhor Evolution, the company managing the parks, also reassured the public that operations would continue as usual. Most rental agreements with tenants are in place until 2025–2026, and no changes are planned.
Golden House issued an official statement, emphasizing that it has no involvement in the alleged project.
"Orient Group Management (which includes Golden House) officially states that neither Golden House nor any other Orient Group enterprises are planning this project or any construction on this site. The visualizations circulating online were taken from an internal presentation by a former Golden House employee who left the company in 2024."
The company further explained that various concepts are regularly developed internally, but not all receive approval.
Additionally, Orient Group Management is reportedly planning to transfer ownership of the Anhor shopping mall to a private company, which intends to construct a new building on the site.
Earlier reports indicated that most stores in the shopping mall had closed, including clothing and cosmetics shops, a Makro supermarket, and several food court restaurants.
Golden House CEO Vladimir Kalina expressed surprise over the rumors.
"We were extremely surprised by the publications attributing such intentions to Golden House. We do not know who released internal company materials online, causing public outrage in Tashkent. Unfortunately, none of the journalists or bloggers covering this topic reached out to us for an official comment."
He reiterated that Golden House has no plans to develop Anhor and Navruz parks, as the company is focused on projects in other areas of the capital.
