The source said that the enterprise plans to launch production of three new models and currently the venture plans to invest US$150 million.
He said that the company plans to launch production of re-styled sedan of business class Gentra in 2016, serial production of hatchback of B-class on the base of Aveo model in 2017 and start assembly of crossover after 2018. The capacity of the production and other details were not disclose.
In the first half of 2015, GM Uzbekistan will launch SKD-assembly of Chevrolet Aveo. In the preliminary stage, the capacity of the line will be 20,000 cars a year.
Uzavtosanoat and South Korea’s Daewoo Motor created a joint venture - UzDaewoo Auto - on parity conditions with the charter capital of US$200 million. In 1996, the venture launched car production plant with the cost of US$650 million in Asaka city of Andijan region. The capacity of the venture is 200,000 cars per year.
In May 2005, Uzavtosanoat purchased 50% shares of Daewoo Motor in UzDaewoo Auto for about US$110 million. General Motors and Uzavtosanoat completed process of creation of GM Uzbekistan on the base of UzDaewooAuto in the end of March 2008. The charter capital of new venture is US$266.7 million.
General Motors owns 25% shares and plus one share in the new venture and it can increase its share up to 40%. Currently, Uzavtosanoat possesses 75% shares in GM Uzbekistan.
Currently, the venture produces nine models of cars: five sedans - Nexia, Cobalt, Lacetti, Gentra and Malibu, two small cars – Matiz and Spark, off-road vehicle – Captiva, mini-van – Orlando and microbus – Damas.
The enterprise increased production of cars by 4.5% year-on-year in 2013 – to 246,031 units.
