Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Producers of fruit and vegetable products from Namangan held talks with members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Egypt as part of a videoconference organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Cairo, Dunyo reports.
On the Uzbek side, the event was attended by directors of Afrz Kamol Nabi, Fais Mega Export, Sof Asal, Valley Fruits, Iron Lit and Prof Agro Sel companies, with the Egyptian representatives of business circles led by with the chairman of the CCI fruit and vegetable trading sector, Yahya Ahmad al-Sunni.
The parties exchanged views on the current state of the fruit and vegetable market in the region of Central Asia and North Africa, measures to increase crop yields, the current agricultural prices and prospects for mutual cooperation in this direction.
The head of the Egyptian delegation noted that due to climatic conditions and soil fertility, Egyptian farmers receive crops three times a year, exporting it mainly to Europe and Africa. At the same time, cooperation with EU countries is carried out both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of international organizations.
The Egyptian side praised the quality of vegetables and fruits grown in Uzbekistan, as well as beekeeping products. Of particular interest to the interlocutors was the mountain honey of Uzbekistan, which differs from Egyptian counterparts in properties, color and aroma.
It was noted that the remoteness of our country from Egypt increases transport costs and reduces the competitiveness of domestic goods and services. Despite this, the parties agreed to actively explore each other's markets, initiate the signing of bilateral agreements on mutual easing of customs barriers, and expand the trade in fruits and vegetables.
In addition, Cairo and Namangan partners will present each other commercial proposals for the development and conclusion of contracts for the supply of agricultural products.
