Gazprom and Uzbekistan highly rate partnership in energy sector
During the visit, Aleksey Miller held meetings with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov.
The sides highly rated bilateral partnership in energy sphere, Gazprom said in a statement.
Gazprom and Uzbekneftegaz jointly work on exploring and developing gas in territory of Uzbekistan, including Shakhpakhti field.
The sides agreed to develop joint plant on geological exploration work in Uzbekistan and boost exchange of experience in the sphere of organization of project works and preparing skilled specialists for gas industry.
The side discussed issues of purchasing of the Uzbek natural gas by Gazprom and realizing investment projects in Uzbekistan.
Aleksey Miller said that Gazprom will sign a mid-term contract for purchase of gas with Uzbekistan for the first time.
He said that this is a five-year contract and sets price formula. The contract will be foundation for further long-term cooperation between sites.
It is worth to mention that Gazprom purchased 6.2 billion cubic meters of gas from Uzbekistan in 2016. The company plan to buy 5 billion cubic meters of gas from Uzbekistan in 2017.
Miller told to UzA agency said that he and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev discussed issues of launch of new large projects in Uzbekistan and achieved agreement on purchase of gas from Uzbekistan in next five years. The sides discussed signing of the corresponding agreement.
He said that the agreement opens new page in cooperation between two sides in the gas sphere. Miller state Gazprom plans to strengthen bilateral relations in this direction. During the meeting with the President of Uzbekistan, the sides also exchanged opinion on joint exploration and development of new gas fields in Uzbekistan for 2017-2021, he said.
Currently, the company continues to develop technical task for development of gas condensate of the Zhel field in Ustyurt. The sides jointly develop Shakhpakhty dield.
