Gayané Umerova Attends Opening of Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale 2026 in Riyadh

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Riyadh, Gayané Umerova, Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Fund for the Development of Culture and Arts, took part in the opening ceremony of the third Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale 2026, one of the largest international events in contemporary art in the Middle East.

During the event, Umerova congratulated His Royal Highness Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Culture; His Excellency Rakan Al-Touku, Deputy Minister of Culture; and Her Excellency Ayu Al-Bakri, Director General of the Diriyah Biennale Foundation, on the successful launch of the biennale.

The biennale is held in the JAX district, one of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s most rapidly developing creative clusters.

The public program features discussions, performances, and other formats of cultural dialogue. This year, more than 65 artists from 37 countries are participating.

The biennale’s theme, In Interludes and Transitions, focuses on movement, migration, and cultural transformations, reflecting current global processes and their artistic interpretation.

Uzbekistan’s participation in international cultural forums contributes to strengthening humanitarian cooperation and promoting the country’s cultural potential on the global stage.
