Gas Group plans to launch production of commercial vehicles in Tashkent region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russian manufacturer of commercial vehicles GAZ Group and the Government of the Tashkent region of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed a memorandum of cooperation. The intentions of the parties include the development of the organization of production of GAZ vehicles in Tashkent region and the renewal of the region’s parks with the equipment of the GAZ Group.

According to the Russian company, the document was signed following the agreements reached at the International Industrial Exhibition “Innoprom. Big Industrial Week in Uzbekistan”, which took place in April this year in Tashkent.

The parties plan to work out the issue of organizing the production of light commercial and medium-sized GAZ vehicles, as well as special equipment on their basis, on the territory of the Tashkent region.

At the same time, the parties intend to develop an integrated transport solution based on the GAZ Group equipment for updating the parks in the region, including cars for housing and communal services, social and medical spheres, urban and suburban passenger transportation, for small and medium-sized businesses.

Also, in accordance with the terms of the memorandum, it is planned to develop modern digital online systems for managing the transport fleet for their subsequent implementation in ambulances, social and communal services of the Tashkent region. This promising technology is aimed at improving the efficiency of the region’s vehicle fleets.

Uzbekistan has traditionally been one of the key GAZ markets in the Near Abroad; a significant share of GAZ car deliveries to the Republic falls on Tashkent region. The dealer network of GAZ in Uzbekistan with service centers and a warehouse of spare parts makes it possible to provide comprehensive after-sales support.

In April, GAZ delivered medical vehicles to Uzbekistan, including mobile medical complexes. The ceremony of handing over the machines took place within the framework of the Innoprom International Industrial Exhibition in the presence of the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation D.V. Manturov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan S.U. Umurzakov, Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region G.S. Nikitin.
