Gas Deficit of 6 Million Cubic Meters Causes Temporary Restrictions at CNG Filling Stations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Uzbekistan, the operation of automobile gas-filling compressor stations (CNG stations) will be temporarily restricted due to reduced natural gas supplies from a neighboring country.

This was announced on 11 December by Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov at the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.

According to the Minister, the gas deficit of 6 million cubic meters per day arose due to a technical malfunction in the gas network of the neighboring state.

In response, the Ministry of Energy, together with regional authorities, introduced scheduled restrictions on CNG stations during peak hours. Priority is given to supplying gas to households, social facilities, and strategic infrastructure, including thermal power plants.

The Minister noted that the most challenging situation remains in the Fergana Valley, where gas pressure is at its lowest.

To optimize supplies, the Ministry is utilizing available transit capacities of the neighboring country to reduce logistics constraints.

To compensate for the temporary closure of stationary filling stations, 150 mobile CNG units have been deployed to the region. One of these units is scheduled to begin operations on 22 December in Besharyk, providing between 5,000 and 10,000 cubic meters of gas.

Trial connections of mobile stations have already been conducted at 14 CNG stations.

Mirzamakhmudov emphasized that these temporary measures are necessary to ensure stable gas supply, and efforts to eliminate the technical malfunction are being conducted jointly with neighboring countries.
