Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 18-19 July 2020, a working group led by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and consisting of heads of ministries, departments, industry associations and commercial banks traveled to Navoi region.
During the visit, targeted work with entrepreneurs and exporters was carried out, as well as the progress of investment projects implementation was studied and new promising areas for attracting investments were considered. Visits to enterprises and facilities and direct dialogue with the initiators of investment projects and manufacturers made it possible to study in detail the current problems of entrepreneurs and take comprehensive measures to resolve them promptly.
A critical analysis of the regional development program of Navoi region for 2020-2021 was carried out. The need was noted for the development of new investment projects, the implementation of which will significantly increase the volume of industrial production, create a large number of new jobs and increase the export potential of the region.
In particular, in Zerafshan, Uchkuduk and Nurata districts, low rates of investment attraction were noted, in connection with which the heads of the relevant local authorities, in close coordination with industry departments and associations, were instructed to develop new investment projects characterized by high rates of economic efficiency.
In order to develop home-based work and create additional sources of permanent income for the local population, a number of projects have been developed in the areas of horticulture, rabbit farming, beekeeping, sericulture, poultry farming, as well as the sewing and knitwear industry. In this direction, it was instructed to work out additional projects in the cities of Navoi and Zerafshan, as well as Kanimekhsky, Tamdynsky, Kyzyltepa and Uchkuduk districts, with an emphasis on handicrafts, animal husbandry, poultry farming and textile production.
By in-depth study of the economic potential of the districts and cities of Navoi region, priority sectors were identified for further attracting investments: gardening, karakul breeding, light and chemical industries, the production of building materials and tourism.
For the purpose of high-quality and timely implementation of these projects, the systemic factors that impede the development of the above areas were considered. So, in particular, instructions were given to develop a set of measures to expand and modernize the infrastructure of the Tamdy, Uchkuduk, Kyzyltepa, Khatirchi and Nurata districts. It was also instructed to continue work on the analysis of available resources in the context of districts and cities for the development of new investment projects.
The progress of the dry port initiative was considered separately. The heads of the relevant departments were instructed to unite their efforts to accelerate the implementation of the project, taking into account a number of factors that can ensure the creation of the necessary conditions for the successful functioning of this complex. Thus, it was noted the need to create a system for providing inexpensive and high-quality customs and logistics services, as well as a mechanism for providing customers and logistics companies with fuel and lubricants at competitive prices, which in the future will attract large foreign operators such as DHL, FedEx, Cargo Lux.
As a result of the trip, the responsible leaders were given targeted instructions indicating specific deadlines and expected results, control over the implementation of which will be provided by the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
