Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 21 March, at a meeting of the Special Republican Commission on the preparation of a program of measures to prevent the entry and spread of coronavirus in the Republic of Uzbekistan, it was reported that public transport, in particular, metro, buses and minibuses, fixed-route taxis, will be temporarily suspended.
According to the instructions defined by the 8th protocol of this meeting, the corresponding decision of the Tashkent khokim was adopted.
According to the decision:
- from 22 March 2020, the movement of public transport (buses, metro and fixed-route taxis) temporarily ceases — regardless of the form of ownership — which renders services of carriers on routes in the territory of Tashkent;
- information on the temporary suspension of public transport in Tashkent will be disseminated at the places of passenger congestion;
- for transportation to and from work of the medical staff of hospitals and clinics of the city, the Tashkent Transport Department will provide special disinfected buses based on the number of employees;
- instead of public transport, taxis disinfected by the Tashkent city center of sanitary and epidemiological welfare will run.
Every taxi that goes on a route will be issued a daily disinfection certificate from the Central Bureau of Security and Safety.
Responsible persons were instructed to work to prevent artificially overpricing by those involved in taxi transportation of passengers.
