From 1 January 2026, Uzbek Residents Will Be Able to Invest in US Companies
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Starting in 2026, restrictions on investments by residents of Uzbekistan in US companies will be lifted. This follows a resolution by the Board of the Central Bank of the Republic, which introduced amendments to the procedures for certain foreign exchange operations related to capital movement.
According to the document, from 1 January 2026, residents of Uzbekistan will be able to freely transfer funds from their bank accounts in the country to form the charter capital of US companies, participate in their equity, and replenish working capital for branches and subsidiaries of American enterprises.
The resolution clarifies that such operations will be carried out within the limits of funds available on residents’ accounts in banks of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The regulator emphasizes that this decision is aimed at liberalizing currency regulation and creating more favorable conditions for the overseas investment activities of Uzbek companies and entrepreneurs.
The introduction of these amendments was mandated by a decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev “On the Establishment of the US–Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council.”
