French Ambassador visits new vegetable storehouse for potatoes in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France Violaine De Villemeur visited a new vegetable store for potatoes, funded under a project implemented by experts from ADECIA (France) and the European Union, in Andijan region.

According to the press service of the French Embassy in Tashkent, the European-style vegetable storage is equipped with 4 sections, which provide independent temperature control. They allow to store both seeds and potatoes for consumption.

In 2018, a higher yield per hectare was obtained, thanks to the control of the fertilizer process and crop irrigation, based on soil analysis. Various tests allowed to select four French varieties, which are very well adapted to the soils of Uzbekistan.

In 2019, the focus will be on irrigation with sprinkling when growing four varieties, which will save water by more than 50% per hectare with an efficiency exceeding 80%.
