Fourteen Specialists from Namangan Depart for Qatar for a 10-Month Training Program
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 21 December 2025, fourteen young specialists from Uzbekistan’s Namangan region arrived in Qatar to take part in a transformative 10-month training program at the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST).
Upon completion of the program, the participants will become certified trainers at the newly established Uzbek–Qatari Vocational Skills Centre in Namangan, marking an important step in strengthening vocational education and international cooperation between Uzbekistan and Qatar.
This ambitious initiative was launched by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Qatar in 2024 and is aimed at equipping young people from Uzbekistan with internationally recognized skills. In March 2025, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Center for Progressive Reforms of Uzbekistan and the University of Doha for Science and Technology, laying the foundation for the operation of the Uzbek–Qatari Vocational Skills Centre.
The centre is designed to train around 1,000 specialists annually across five high-demand fields: welding, plumbing, electrical installation, nursing, and general engineering.
The training program, based on the university’s rigorous curricula, provides participants with in-depth theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical skills in these mid-level vocational specializations. Graduates will receive internationally recognized certificates, opening up employment opportunities in Qatar, across the Middle East, and in Europe and the United States.
This cooperation represents a significant milestone in the development of a skilled workforce capable of contributing to both the local and global economy. The Uzbek–Qatari Vocational Skills Centre will not only enhance the quality of vocational education in Namangan, but also further strengthen ties between the two countries.
Dr. Salem Al-Naemi, President of UDST, stated: “This initiative reflects UDST’s deep commitment to applied education and our proven track record in upskilling technical professionals. Through our internationally accredited Vocational Skills Centre, we deliver industry-driven programs that provide learners with globally relevant expertise. We are delighted to welcome trainees from Namangan and to share our experience in hands-on education. This collaboration demonstrates the strengthening of professional development and marks an important step for our university as we make a meaningful contribution to Qatar’s global education mission.”
The program underscores Uzbekistan’s determination to modernize its workforce and Qatar’s commitment to supporting international educational partnerships. The Uzbek–Qatari Vocational Skills Centre is well positioned to become a regional hub for vocational development, creating new opportunities for the next generation of skilled professionals.
