Former Court Chairman Sentenced
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 17 October, the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court sentenced Yu. E., born in 1974 and a native of Andijan region, who previously served as Chairman of the Khonobod City Criminal Court. The Supreme Court’s press service reported the decision.
He was found guilty under Part 4 of Article 168(a) and Part 3 of Article 211(a) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The court sentenced him to 10.5 years in prison, with an additional penalty of a 2.5-year ban on holding positions in state authorities, courts, and law enforcement agencies.
Both parties have been informed of their right to appeal the decision in accordance with the law.
Yu. E. was detained by law enforcement for accepting $30,000 from the mother of a convicted person in exchange for a promise to reduce a prison sentence previously imposed by another court.
