Foreign Trade Minister receives the Vice President of the Asian Development Bank
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 April 2019, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade hosted a meeting with the Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), one of the largest partners of Uzbekistan in implementing major development programs and major infrastructure and socially important projects in strategic sectors of the economy and many areas of society.
The Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov noted the positive dynamics of cooperation with the bank, at the same time expressing confidence in maintaining this trend in the medium and long term.
Aspects of the implementation of the new Partnership Strategy for 2019-2023 and a business plan for operations in Uzbekistan for 2019-2022 were also discussed, which includes projects in the fields of water supply, agriculture, rural housing, energy, transport, financial support and other areas.
In turn, the vice-president of the bank highly appreciated the results of activity in Uzbekistan, emphasizing the wide field of opportunities for the development of further partnership. Thus, in the next three years it is planned to implement projects in such new areas as technical and vocational education and training, market development and the labor system, development of secondary education, development of the capital market and support for public-private partnership.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade declared the readiness of the Ministry, as a coordinating body for working with international financial institutions, to assist ADB in every possible way in their activities in Uzbekistan, bearing in mind the timely implementation of the points of the Partnership Programs and maximizing the use of attracted funds.
