Foreign teachers of Presidential schools prepare video lessons for the Online-Maktab project

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan, the Agency for the Development of Presidential, Creative and Specialized Schools under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, and the National Television and Radio Company of Uzbekistan jointly prepared video lessons with the participation of foreign teachers. Video lessons will be broadcast from 17 May.

In 2019, the first four Presidential schools were opened in Uzbekistan in Nukus, Khiva, Namangan and Tashkent, which will become the locomotive of reforms in improving the quality of education in Uzbekistan. Highly qualified teachers from abroad were involved in teaching young people in these schools.

A group of these teachers were involved in the preparation of video tutorials in various subjects as part of the Online-Maktab (Online School) project. In particular, five teachers of the Presidential School in Tashkent prepared video lessons in such subjects as English, computer science, mathematics (algebra and geometry), biology, etc.

Together, 18 hours of video content was prepared as extracurricular training for students of grades 6-11. All lessons are prepared in English.

Anmarie Anderson prepared video lessons in computer science for 6-8 grades, grades - in biology for 6 grades, Dass Oscar - in algebra and geometry for 9-11 grades. Native English speaker Ann Baillie gave her recommendations on preparing for the IELTS exams.

“Practice shows that children learn foreign languages faster with the help of cartoons and television content. Given this, and the fact that English is one of the international languages, we plan to display video content in English. Video lessons with the participation of foreign teachers is one of the first steps in this direction,” said Minister of Education Sherzod Shermatov.

Video lessons with the participation of foreign teachers will be broadcast on Online-Maktab on Sundays starting from 17 May 2020.
