Foreign nationals in Syrdarya region fined 41 million soums for burning banknotes
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the Syrdarya region, a group of foreign nationals working in Uzbekistan was held accountable for burning 2,000-soum banknotes, which they used to light cigarettes.
The incident occurred on 23 December at one of the region’s industrial facilities.
The identities of the offenders were established, and administrative protocols were drawn up against them under Article 184-3 of the Administrative Code of Uzbekistan (“Manufacture, storage, or distribution of materials promoting national, racial, ethnic, or religious hostility”). The foreign nationals admitted their guilt and expressed remorse.
The Syrdarya Criminal Court found them guilty and imposed fines of 100 base calculation units each, totaling 41.2 million soums per person.
Additionally, their employment contracts were unilaterally terminated by the employer.
