Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Regarding the information circulated on 16 March 2020 in some media and social networks about the eviction of Uzbek students of Russian higher education institutions from hostels in order to prevent coronavirus infection, the Embassy reports the following.

According to the information available to the diplomatic mission, the official authorities of the Russian Federation did not take any measures against Uzbek students studying in Russian universities in order to limit their residence and / or stay in the country. The university administration did not receive any recommendations or instructions from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation to expel foreign students from Uzbekistan from dormitories.

The embassy urges compatriots not to panic, remain calm and comply with the recommendations of the Russian authorities to combat the spread of COVID-19 infection, as well as not to leave their places of residence and continue their studies in the format defined by the leadership of universities.

At the same time, we inform you that on 16 March, in order to ensure the security of the state, protect public health and prevent the spread of coronavirus infection, in accordance with Russian law and the provisions of applicable international treaties, the Russian Government decided to temporarily restrict entry to March 18, 2020 Russian foreign citizens and stateless persons.

These restrictions will not apply to employees of diplomatic missions and consular offices in Russia, drivers of international automobile traffic, crews of aircraft, sea and river vessels, train and locomotive brigades of international railway traffic, members of official delegations and persons with diplomatic, official, ordinary private visas issued in connection with the death of a close relative, persons permanently residing in the territory of the Russian Federation, as well as persons following NZIT through the air checkpoints.

The embassy strongly recommends that fellow citizens take into account the above decision of the Government of Russia and recalls that citizens of Uzbekistan located in the Russian Federation can, if necessary, contact the diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan in Moscow and the regions of the Russian Federation.
