Foreign Ministry: 5,037 compatriots evacuated from combat zone

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8-9 March 2022, 250 citizens of Uzbekistan, including 62 women, 28 children and 8 babies, were returned from Ukraine through the airport in Katowice (Poland). This was reported by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Yusup Kabuljanov.

According to him, in the period from 28 February to 9 March, 22 flights took place. 5,037 compatriots were taken out of the combat zone.

He noted that there is a tendency to reduce the number of citizens of Uzbekistan arriving from Ukraine at the Karchova checkpoint (Poland). Another flight is scheduled for March 9.

The Embassy of our country in Ukraine ensured the evacuation of 23 Uzbek students from the city of Sumy under the auspices of international humanitarian organizations, who were sent to Lviv by a bus rented by the diplomatic mission.

Work on the evacuation of citizens from various parts of Ukraine continues with an emphasis on the evacuation of compatriots located in remote areas on the line of hostilities.

Uzbek diplomats are in the Republic of Moldova to work out the issue of evacuating compatriots from this country.
