Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and Russia discuss bilateral relations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 22 April 2020, a telephone conversation took place between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

The ministers noted with satisfaction the high dynamics in the development of bilateral relations in the political, trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian and other fields, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reports.

The issues of preparation for the State visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation on the scheduled dates were discussed.

The parties agreed to continue work on shaping the agenda of the event at the highest level, as well as harmonizing bilateral documents.

The importance of signing the Declaration on a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation following the visit was highlighted.

The prospects of further cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia in the framework of the chairmanship of our country in the Commonwealth of Independent States are considered.

The ministers also exchanged views on holding the next third meeting of the heads of the foreign affairs agencies of Russia and the countries of Central Asia in the format of the Russian Federation + CA5.

The foreign ministers discussed the situation in the world around the coronavirus and expressed interest in continuing to work closely on the prevention and mitigation of the consequences of the disease.
