According to the Uzbek State Statistics Committee, the share of food industry in total industrial production increased from 17.1% in January-December 2014 to 18.2% in January-December 2015.
In 2015, the sugar industry increased output by 23.7%, fruit and vegetables - by 17.9%, meat and milk - by 5.7%, and fat - by 3.7%.
The industry increased production of such products as: canned meat (8 times), vegetable canned food (2 times), molasses (molasses) (40.9%), margarine and spreads (16.5%), jams, jellies, jelly (20.2%), flour confectionery products non-durable storage (17.8%), sugar (16.3%), other bakery products non-durable storage (14.0%), processed liquid milk (11.4%), butter (7.9%) and bread wheat (6.3%) and alcoholic tinctures (by 13.4%) and beer (5.3% ).
The largest volume of industrial products was manufactured by enterprises of Tashkent city (22.2% of total industry), Tashkent (18.2%), Samarkand (13.4%) and Fergana (6.5%) regions.
The small businesses recorded an increase in production by 14.3% in 2015. Their share in the total food industry reached 69.0%.
In 2015, about 1,501 enterprises were launched in the food industry of Uzbekistan. As of 1 January 2016, 8,711 enterprises worked in the industry.
