Five-Year Program to Improve Road Quality to Be Developed
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in his address to the parliament and the nation, emphasized the strategic importance of developing the country’s road network for socio-economic growth.
To enhance road quality and strengthen transit potential, a five-year program will be implemented aimed at modernizing the road network, improving traffic safety, and increasing regional connectivity.
As part of infrastructure reforms, major highways totaling 4,000 kilometers—linking Andijan with Kungrad, Tashkent with Termez, Samarkand with Shakhrisabz, and Alat with Sariosiyo—will be gradually upgraded to modern expressways meeting international standards.
In 2026, reconstruction of 300 kilometers of public roads in Karakalpakstan, Bukhara, Kashkadarya, and Surkhandarya regions is planned to be completed.
Construction will also begin on 800 kilometers of high-speed highways along the routes Tashkent–Samarkand, Tashkent–Andijan, Tashkent–Bostanlyk, Pungan–Namangan, and Karshi–Shakhrisabz.
