Five Kilograms of Synthetic Drugs Found in Tashkent Hidden Inside Two Gearboxes

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Customs authorities in Tashkent have seized five kilograms of synthetic drugs hidden inside two gearboxes, the press service of the Uzbekistan Customs Committee reported.

According to the agency, a 31-year-old taxi driver brought car parts from Russia valued at US$200. Additionally, another individual agreed to transport the gearboxes through the Navoi customs post for 150,000 soums. Upon inspection, authorities discovered that the car parts contained five kilograms of the synthetic drug clevedrone.

During operational measures, the courier tasked with delivering the prohibited substance to two individuals in the Yashnabad district of Tashkent was detained.

It was noted that neither the taxi driver, the person transporting the gearboxes through customs, nor the courier were aware of the contents of the shipment.

The Customs Committee urged citizens to refrain from transporting others’ goods through customs posts to avoid criminal liability.
