Five Killed in Truck Accident on M-39 Highway in Jizzakh

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A fatal road accident occurred on the M-39 highway in Sharaf Rashidov District, Jizzakh Region, according to Kun.

Law enforcement authorities reported that a 22-year-old driver of an ISUZU truck, while exiting a gas station, grossly violated traffic rules by failing to yield and entering the roadway at a prohibited turn.

At that moment, a Lacetti passenger car traveling at high speed collided with the rear of the truck. Following the impact, the car caught fire, and all five occupants — the driver and four passengers — died at the scene.

The Investigative Department of Jizzakh Region has opened a criminal case under Article 266, Part 3, Paragraph “a” of the Criminal Code. The truck driver faces up to 10 years of imprisonment.
