First Shipments of Ferghana Grapes to Tokyo Successfully Completed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Grapes from the Ferghana region have officially appeared on the shelves of Japanese supermarkets.

In September 2025, the private enterprise Sherakhun sent its first trial batch of grapes to Washin Trading Co., Ltd in Japan. Japanese importers gave high marks to the product’s quality, which led to the signing of an export contract worth US$1 million between the two sides.

Under the agreement, the first commercial shipment was delivered to Tokyo on 28 September, consisting of one ton of the Kelin Barmok and Kora Kishmish grape varieties. Along with the grapes, pomegranates and dates were also sent as samples.

The positive feedback from Japanese partners on these fruits resulted in the signing of a new export contract with Quva-Agro Star LLC.

According to the agreement, a shipment weighing 1,135 kilograms — including grapes, pomegranates, and dates — was exported to Tokyo, opening new prospects for Uzbek fruits on the Japanese market.
