First Round of Consular Consultations Held Between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 23 December 2025, the first round of consular consultations between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia took place in Riyadh.

The delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Olimjon Abdullaev, while the consultations on behalf of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were conducted by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ihab bin Muhammad Al-Najjar.

During the discussions, the parties addressed the protection of citizens’ rights and interests, as well as improving mechanisms for mutual notification in cases of detention, temporary custody, and deportation.

Special attention was given to strengthening cooperation in labor migration, mutual recognition of documents and the apostille system, and the exchange of experience in the digitalization of migration and consular services.

The parties agreed to implement a new digital platform in Uzbekistan, similar to the one planned in Saudi Arabia for foreign nationals.

This system will allow potential issues to be identified in advance and enable efficient resolution of any problems arising during the stay of Uzbek citizens in the Kingdom.

Following the consultations, a second round of talks was agreed to take place in Tashkent.
