First Meeting of Central Asian Culture Ministers Held in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tashkent hosted the first-ever meeting of culture ministers from Central Asian countries. From 13 to 14 November 2025, the Uzbek capital held the international congress “Central Asia: Shared Spiritual and Educational Heritage – Shared Future,” which concluded with this historic gathering of ministers from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan, the latter participating as an honorary guest.
During the meeting, participants discussed the current state and future prospects of regional cultural cooperation, the expansion of exchanges among artists, and the development of a unified cultural brand for Central Asia.
The ministers emphasized the importance of historical, cultural, and spiritual ties in strengthening regional unity and reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of the Treaty on Friendship and Cooperation of Central Asian States, signed in 2022.
The meeting resulted in agreements to conduct joint events in the fields of art, literature, cinema, theater, and music, implement projects to study, restore, and digitize cultural heritage, and create exchange programs for young creators.
To advance the initiative of forming a regional cultural brand, the participants agreed to establish a working group. The date of the next meeting of ministers will be announced separately.
In the evening, attendees attended the performance “Khan Sultan. The Golden Horde” at the Alisher Navoi Grand Academic Theater, staged by a theater troupe from Kazakhstan.
This gathering marked the first time such a meeting has been held in the format of a summit of Central Asian culture ministers.
