First Liver Transplant in the Region Successfully Performed in Bukhara

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the first days of the new year, the Bukhara region successfully carried out its first liver transplant, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan reported.

The patient, Vahidjon Nazarov from Olot district, had suffered from liver cirrhosis for several years. The decision to perform this complex surgery was made by the Bukhara branch of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care, with his wife acting as the donor.

The operation lasted nearly 10 hours and was conducted by a team of Bukhara surgeons under the guidance of transplant specialist Jasur Sobirov from the National Medical Center, with the participation of foreign expert Somon Nekhikhboliyon.

Currently, the condition of both the patient and the donor is stable. They continue to receive necessary treatment under the supervision of qualified medical professionals.

The Ministry of Health emphasized that the introduction of advanced diagnostic, therapeutic, and complex surgical procedures in the regions demonstrates the systematic development of healthcare and the increasing accessibility of medical care for the population.
