First Lady of Uzbekistan Meets WHO Director-General on the Sidelines of UN General Assembly

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The First Lady of Uzbekistan and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Zamin Foundation, Ziroat Mirziyoyeva, met with Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), in New York during the UN General Assembly.

Ziroat Mirziyoyeva expressed her gratitude to the WHO Director-General for the organization’s contribution to the development of global medicine and healthcare, as well as for supporting and expanding the platform that ensures Uzbek children have access to anti-cancer medications.

The parties discussed further steps to enhance cooperation in the early detection of childhood cancer, the introduction of modern diagnostic and treatment methods, training and retraining of specialists in oncology and hematology, and the expansion of rehabilitation and psychosocial support for children and their families.

Dr. Tedros highly praised Uzbekistan’s achievements in healthcare development and the work of the Zamin Foundation, which implements significant social and environmental projects.
