Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — First Lady of Türkiye Emine Erdoğan has appealed to Melania Trump, wife of the US President, calling on her to show the same sensitivity to the humanitarian tragedy in the Gaza Strip as she has demonstrated toward the war in Ukraine, the press service of the Turkish Presidency reported.
In her letter, Emine Erdoğan expressed gratitude to Melania Trump, recalling their warm meeting at the White House six years ago. She noted that the First Lady of the United States’ concern for children affected by the conflict in Ukraine brings hope and urged her to show similar compassion for Palestinian children.
“Your efforts to bring smiles back to the faces of Ukrainian children are of great significance. I believe you will show the same sensitivity to the fate of Gaza’s children, where tens of thousands of civilians, including thousands of children, have been killed over the past two years,” Emine Erdoğan wrote.
The First Lady of Türkiye emphasized that the situation in Gaza has become one of the gravest humanitarian crises of our time. According to her, “a child dies there every 45 minutes,” and thousands of young victims remain unidentified, leaving “irreparable wounds on humanity’s conscience.”
She urged the wife of the US President to address Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with a strong demand to put an end to the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
Emine Erdoğan stressed that Palestinian children, like those in Ukraine, deserve joy, freedom, and a dignified future.
“It would be of great importance if your voice rose in defense of Gaza. That would amount to fulfilling a historic responsibility toward the Palestinian people,” she underlined.
In conclusion, Emine Erdoğan stated that protecting children and upholding international law are universal human obligations, and only joint efforts can restore hope for future generations.
