First Batch of Electric Buses from China Delivered to Uzbekistan under Green Transport Project
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has received the first batch of electric buses from China.
As previously reported, under the State Program for the implementation of the Uzbekistan – 2030 Strategy, declared the “Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy,” Tashkent is carrying out a project to purchase 200 electric buses and the necessary charging infrastructure by 2025. The initiative is aimed at climate change adaptation, achieving carbon neutrality, and developing sustainable urban transport.
The supplier of the fleet was selected through a tender, with YUTONG BUS Co., Ltd. of the People’s Republic of China named the winner.
In line with the signed contract, deliveries have now begun with financial support from the Export-Import Bank of China and Uzpromstroybank.
The first batch of 100 electric buses has already arrived in Uzbekistan via Kazakhstan. The remaining units are scheduled to be delivered by the end of September this year.
