Fire at Aviator Shopping Complex in Yashnabad District Claims One Life

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A fire at the Aviator shopping complex in Tashkent’s Yashnabad district has resulted in the death of one person, whose body was discovered under the debris, the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.

The emergency services received the first report of the fire on 31 January at 15:47. Fire and rescue units arrived at the scene six minutes later. All visitors and staff inside the complex were promptly evacuated.

The fire was contained by 16:50 and completely extinguished by 17:17 under the supervision of the Minister of Emergency Situations. Earlier statements from the ministry indicated that there were no casualties, but an initial inspection under the debris revealed the body of one individual.

Specialists continue to investigate the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the material damage.
