Final Results of the International School Championship “Formula of Intellect” Announced in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The final stage of the international intellectual games championship “Formula of Intellect” for students in grades 8–11 was held at the Information Center for Atomic Technologies under the Uzatom Agency.

The tournament, conducted according to the rules of “What? Where? When?”, brought together 124 teams from Uzbekistan, Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. The event was organized by the NGO “Energy of the Future” with the support of ICAT and the State Corporation “Rosatom.”

Following national selection rounds held in five regions of Uzbekistan, six of the country’s strongest teams advanced to the international finals. Organizers noted growing engagement and interest among schoolchildren: Uzbekistan was represented by four teams from Tashkent, and participants from Margilan and Navoi regions.

Jury member of the international tournament, Uzbekistan and Eurasia champion in “What? Where? When?”, Yan Sadkovsky, emphasized the expanded geography of participants: “It is gratifying that for the first time, teams from three cities reached the regional finals. The selection stage involved 122 teams from 17 cities across Uzbekistan — the largest tournament of its kind in the country. Six teams reached the final: four from Tashkent, one from Margilan, and one from Papa, Namangan region. This year we did not reach the international podium, but the level of organization, the complexity of questions, and the tournament atmosphere were excellent.”

In the international final, the team “Academy of Talents” once again emerged as the best among Uzbek participants, finishing seventh in the international ranking and improving their number of correct answers compared to last year.

Team captain Vladimir-Miroslav Aksyonov highlighted the tournament’s role in student development: “We aimed for first place, but setbacks are part of the journey. ‘Formula of Intellect’ is the largest international school tournament in Uzbekistan. Playing with teams from other countries is an important experience that helps us grow. For us, participation is about self-development: intellectual games teach us to think broadly, learn new things, and work as a team. Over time, we have become true friends.”

Team member Firdavs Mahmudjonov also noted progress: “The game went well, although we hoped for more. This year, we were able to tackle questions that would have been too difficult for us before. This motivates us to keep moving forward. I would advise anyone who wants to join the ‘Formula of Intellect’ to develop thinking, imagination, and teamwork skills.”

Yan Sadkovsky emphasized the project’s important educational mission: “The main thing is that the children genuinely enjoy participating. They meet new people, communicate, and plan future events. Thanks to ‘Formula of Intellect,’ many students have seen for the first time how large intellectual tournaments are conducted.

The project provides real opportunities for students: diplomas help with university applications, especially abroad, where extracurricular activity is valued.”

The expert also noted the key skills needed for future participants: “Three things are particularly important: communication skills — silence at the table earns no points; logical thinking; and broad erudition. We always tell children that intellectual activity should have practical benefits. And it does — students start learning better, get admitted to prestigious universities, and win competitions.”

Uzbek teams have been participating in the international “Formula of Intellect” championship since 2022.

Today, the tournament has become one of the largest educational platforms in Central Asia, bringing together students interested in science, logic, and intellectual games.
