Fifth session of Discussion Club takes place in Beijing

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Fifth session of Discussion Club was held in Beijing, China, on 14 May 2013. The session was organized by the Center for Political Studies, headed by professor Gulnara Karimova.

Discussion Club is a platform for building professional dialogue between foreign and Uzbek experts as a basis for generating new views and ideas that can have impact both on theoretical and practical levels to develop political and economic school of Uzbekistan and promote it wide entry into the global intellectual space.

The session of the Discussion Club was held for the first time abroad. The event was co-organized by China Institute of International Studies (CIIS) under the Minister of Foreign Affairs of China.

Topic of the meeting was “Will the 21 century be a century of political and economic rise of Asia?: Key trends”.

Discussion club was attended by leading Chinese and foreign experts, including senior research fellow of CIIS Ruan Zongze, director of Institute of social development of Europe and Asia of the Center of development research of China State Council Li Fenglin, Director of the Center for development research of Cambridge University Piter Nolan, Former first deputy foreign minister of india Shri Shashank, and others.

Representatives of foreign ministry of China, scientific and research circles of China, international organizations and diplomatic corps were invited to the event.

At the event, the experts considered several issues related to modern political-economic trends in the Asian continent.

It was noted that complex system of relations with key global players will be main factor, which will determine future landscape f Asia.

China with its huge economic and geopolitical growth is becoming key driver of processes in Asia. India will also play key role and its development will determine situation in Southern Asia.

At the meeting, it was underlined that Russia and the United States will continue to impact processes in the Asian continent. Shift of priorities of the US to Asia will turn the region to key player in global geopolitics.

Impact of Europe in Asia will be felt, as usual, in economy, trade and investment. However, Europe will focus to eliminating its economic problems.

It was underlined that Chinese yuan is becoming international currency and it is used many countries and this will strengthen its position in international financial operations.

BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) will also determine future balance in global financial markets as it is discussing creation of Reserve Fund and Development Bank.
