FIFA to Open Regional Office for Central Asian Countries in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — FIFA will open a regional office for Central Asian countries in Tashkent. This initiative is part of the Presidential decree of Uzbekistan “On Measures for the Preparation and Hosting of the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup.”

The Head of State supported the proposal from the International Federation of Football and the Uzbekistan Football Association to establish a regional FIFA representative office in the capital, which will oversee football development across Central Asian countries.

According to the decision, the primary expenses for organizing and operating the office will be covered by FIFA. Any remaining funding will be provided by the Uzbekistan Football Support Fund, with its contribution not exceeding half of the total costs.

The regional office will be located rent-free in the building of the Uzbekistan Football Association at 98a Islam Karimov Street, Tashkent.

Costs for renovating the premises, furnishing, equipment, technology, and transportation will be financed through the Reconstruction and Development Fund in accordance with the Presidential decree of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 3 November 2023, No. PP-355.

The minimum operational requirements for the office will be determined by the Uzbekistan Football Association.

The opening of the FIFA regional office in Tashkent is considered an important step toward strengthening the institutional presence of the international football organization in Central Asia. It is expected to support the development of football infrastructure, improve management practices, and expand regional cooperation in the field of sports.
