Ferghana Tax Committee Employee Detained for Accepting US$30,000 Bribe
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Ferghana, an employee of the Tax Committee was detained on suspicion of accepting a bribe. According to the investigation, the official received US$30,000 in exchange for facilitating the illegal re-registration of a land plot.
The State Security Service reported that a senior inspector of the regional Entrepreneurship Support Service offered to register a 48-hectare agricultural land plot in the Ferghana district under a fictitious buyer for a monetary reward. The plot had previously been obtained by the official’s relative for a 30-year term through an electronic auction.
The illegal transaction was documented during a joint operation by the State Security Service and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes at the moment the money was handed over.
A criminal case has been opened, and investigative actions are ongoing.
