Ferghana Region Explores Cotton Stem Processing Project with German Investors

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Ferghana Region Governor Khayrullo Bozorov met with Ziya Gaziev, CEO of German company Alcon Development GmbH, and his colleague Qureshi Ahsan Rashid to discuss a joint investment project, according to the regional administration.

The talks focused on implementing agreements reached during the region’s delegation visit to Germany in July 2025. Officials and investors examined Ferghana’s investment potential, geographic advantages, and opportunities for agricultural and processing industry development. Special attention was given to cotton cultivation and adding value through processing cotton stems.

German investors presented a project to produce biochar from cotton stems using modern pyrolysis technology. Discussions covered the project’s economic viability, environmental safety, and waste processing options to minimize ecological impact.

Both sides agreed on measures to move the project forward, with Bozorov emphasizing the regional authorities’ readiness to support promising investment initiatives.
