Ferghana Pomegranates Now Sold in Japan’s Costco
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Pomegranates grown in Uzbekistan’s Ferghana region have appeared on the shelves of Costco stores in Japan, the regional administration reported.
The first shipment, supplied under a contract between Agrostar LLC (based in Kuva) and Japanese company Vasheng Trading, amounted to 22 tons. By the end of the year, more than 50 tons are planned for delivery.
The partnership between the companies began in September 2025 with the first export shipment of grapes to Costco. In 2026, the partners intend to expand fruit exports to Japan, including cherries, grapes, and melons.
The arrival of Ferghana pomegranates on the Japanese market highlights Uzbekistan’s strengthening position as an exporter of high-quality fruit and opens new opportunities for local producers.
