Ferghana and Tashkent Airports Successfully Complete the APEX in Safety Program

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan Airports has successfully completed participation in the APEX in Safety (Airport Excellence in Safety) program, an independent aviation safety assessment conducted by the Airports Council International (ACI), at the international airports of Ferghana and Tashkent.

The APEX in Safety program was developed by ACI on the basis of the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), international regulations, and global best industry practices.

The assessment is carried out in a peer review format by a team of experts from ACI member airports and is aimed at analyzing existing operational processes, identifying potential risks, and developing practical recommendations to enhance the level of flight safety, including the development of Safety Management Systems (SMS).

As part of the assessment, an international team of experts examined key elements of operational safety, including emergency response and firefighting readiness, flight safety documentation and procedures, the physical characteristics of the aerodrome and visual navigation aids, as well as risk management related to wildlife hazards.

The results of the assessment confirmed that current approaches comply with international requirements and helped identify areas for further improvement of operational processes.

The implementation of ACI’s recommendations is expected to contribute to higher levels of flight safety, the development of airport infrastructure, and the strengthening of a safety culture within Uzbekistan’s aviation sector.
