Fed Cup: Uzbekistan fails to book place in World Group play-offs

In the promotion tie, Nigina Abduraimova of Uzbekistan lost to Ksenia Pervak in straight sets 0/6 and 4/6 in the first match.

Uzbekistan number one Akgul Amanmuradova defeated Yaroslava Shvedova in three sets – 1/6, 7/5 and 6/4 to keep Uzbekistan’s hopes alive.

In final pair’s match, Amanmuradova and Abduraimova could not beat Yaroslava Shvedova and Galina Voskoboyeva. The match ended with the score 6/2 and 6/4 in favour of Kazakh pair.

Uzbekistan defeated Chinese Taipei (2-1), South Korea (2-1) and China (2-1) to clinch a right to play in promotional play-off match against Kazakhstan. All matches were held in Astana, Kazakhstan.
