Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, Mufti Usmonkhon Alimov, on the air of Uzbekistan 24 channel, announced a fatwa about holding the month of Ramadan during the quarantine period. This was reported by the press service of the Office of Muslims of Uzbekistan.
“The Office of Muslims of Uzbekistan has studied the situation in neighboring and foreign countries on the month of Ramadan. In particular, in the Arab Republic of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the Republic of Tatarstan, the Russian Federation made statements that Taraweeh prayers would not be performed in mosques and collective iftars were canceled. This issue was discussed with the Spiritual Directorates of Muslims of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, and came to a unified solution,” said Usmonkhon Alimov.
In order to prevent violation of quarantine requirements during the month of Ramadan, the Council of Olems of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan adopted a corresponding fatwa, which calls on all Muslims to observe the following instructions:
- perform Taraweeh prayers and khatm of the Qur’an at home, the khatm of the Qur’an will also be broadcast online with the participation of the kari acting in the system of the Office of Muslims of Uzbekistan;
- not to conduct collective iftars, funds intended for holding Iftar ceremonies, to transfer to families in need of material support through the "Sponsorship Coordination Center";
- It is recommended to transfer funds from Zakat, Fidia and Fitr-Sadak to the accounts of the charitable public “Vakf” and its territorial units or to the “Center for the coordination of sponsorship activities”.
Mufti Usmonkhon Alimov also announced the holding of regular programs on the month of Ramadan in television and social networks.
On 16 March, the chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, Mufti Usmonkhon Alimov, announced a fatwa on a temporary ban on Friday prayers in mosques.
