Fatal Collision Between Gentra Car and Train: Criminal Case Opened

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A criminal case has been opened in Namangan Region following a fatal traffic accident involving a train and a Gentra passenger car.

The case was initiated under Part 3 of Article 266 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (“Violation of traffic safety rules or operation of vehicles resulting in human casualties”). An investigation is underway.

The tragedy occurred on 13 September 2025 at an unguarded railway crossing between the Chortoq and Uychi stations. The driver of the Gentra, violating traffic regulations, attempted to cross the tracks in front of an oncoming train.

Six people were inside the car — five women and a young child. All died at the scene. The train crew applied emergency braking, but a collision could not be avoided. The train sustained minor damage.
