FAO Showcases Inclusive Business Experience at International Forum in Namangan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The International Forum “From Poverty to Prosperity” was held in Uzbekistan, bringing together over 500 participants from around the world, including high-level representatives of government bodies, international organizations, development institutions, academic circles, and the private sector.

Over two days, the forum served as a key platform for sharing experiences and discussing innovative solutions in poverty reduction, inclusive growth, and sustainable income generation.

During 15 thematic sessions with participation from 45 international and national experts, discussions focused on mechanisms to support vulnerable populations, expand economic opportunities, and strengthen cooperation at all levels.

A highlight was the panel discussion “Inclusive Business: Private Sector Pathways to Poverty Reduction (FAO, IFC)”, moderated by Senior Economist of the FAO Investment Center, Dmytro Prykhodko.

Participants included First Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Ilhom Norkulov, IFC Country Manager for Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan Neil McCain, EBRD Head of Office in Uzbekistan Andi Aranitasi, FAO Investment Center Economist Andrey Yarmak, ADB Operations Head in Uzbekistan Mirzo Iskandar Gulamov, and Executive Director of the Entrepreneurship Development Company JSC Abboskhon Mahamatov.

Experts emphasized that engaging the private sector and applying inclusive investment models can accelerate poverty reduction, strengthen value chains, and create new opportunities for rural households and small businesses. FAO highlighted the need to transform agri-food systems, expand market access for small farmers, and develop innovative partnerships that ensure sustainable development.

“Inclusive business is not just about expanding markets, but also about involving small farmers and rural households. By collaborating with the private sector and fostering innovative partnerships, we can accelerate poverty reduction and create sustainable opportunities for vulnerable communities,” noted Dmytro Prykhodko.

The forum reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development in partnership with international organizations. FAO’s active participation underscored its support for the government’s efforts to build a strong foundation for prosperity and improve the well-being of citizens.
