Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 5 May 2020, an extraordinary meeting of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was held to address the challenges facing business during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. The meeting was attended by ECO Secretary General Hadi Soleimanpour, President of the CCI ECO Azarah Hafizi.

CCI ECO is a regional international structure uniting the CCI of Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan.

The main topic of the online meeting, in which the Uzbek delegation was represented by First Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Islam Jasimov and Deputy Chairman of the CCI Farizshokh Usmanov, was focused on supporting business in the current economic conditions during the pandemic, and the role of the CCI of the ECO countries.

The meeting participants were acquainted with the large-scale business development reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, detailed information was presented on the measures taken in the country to support business during the pandemic, in particular benefits, preferences and other important measures to mitigate the negative impact of coronavirus on the economy and living standards of the population.

During the videoconference, the parties also discussed issues related to measures taken in the member countries of the pandemic counteraction organization, exchanged views on additional measures necessary to mitigate the effects of coronavirus on the small and private business sector, and also discussed proposals and initiatives to further strengthen partnerships. between the chambers of commerce of the ECO member states.
