Exhibition Opens in Tashkent Celebrating 30 Years of Diplomatic Relations Between Romania and Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 24 November 2025 at 17:00, the “Academia” Gallery of the Uzbekistan Academy of Arts will host the opening of an exhibition of paintings and installations dedicated to the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Romania and Uzbekistan.

The event is organized by the Embassy of Romania in Tashkent in cooperation with the Kamoliddin Behzod Institute of Fine Arts and Design.

Romania was one of the first countries to recognize the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were officially established on 6 October 1995. On the occasion of the anniversary, the foreign ministers—Oana Cîțu of Romania and Bakhtiyor Saidov of Uzbekistan—exchanged congratulatory letters, highlighting the steady development of bilateral ties.

As part of the anniversary events, the Ambassador of Romania to Uzbekistan, Daniel Cristian Ciobanu, delivered a lecture at Tashkent State University of Economics.

Romanian–Uzbek relations today are developing dynamically across political, economic, and cultural spheres. Interest from Romanian businesses in the Uzbek market continues to grow, bilateral trade indicators are rising, and Romania’s cultural initiatives in Uzbekistan receive high recognition.

The exhibition, prepared by students of the Kamoliddin Behzod Institute, features 33 paintings and four installations. Participants drew inspiration from the friendly relations between Romania and Uzbekistan, the cultural codes of both countries, and symbols reflecting the path of cooperation.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 24 to 30 November 2025 at the “Academia” Gallery of the Uzbekistan Academy of Arts (35 Sadyka Azimova Street).

The Embassy of Romania invites all art enthusiasts to attend. Admission is free.
