Exhibition on Samarkand and Silk Road Heritage Opens in Japan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The National Museum of Ethnology in Japan has opened an international exhibition titled “Echoes of Silk Road Merchants: Monuments of Samarkand and Eurasian Connections,” the press service of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation said in a statement.
The exhibition features a collection of over 200 items, including 63 archaeological and museum artifacts from Samarkand. These artifacts were provided by the Institute of Archaeology and the Samarkand State Museum-Reserve.
A significant portion of the materials comes from the Kafir-Kala site. These exhibits are the result of joint Uzbek-Japanese archaeological research and vividly demonstrate the outcomes of this collaboration.
The project highlights the important role of merchants in Central Asian history.
Visitors are invited to view the Silk Road not only as a trade route but also as a space for dynamic cultural, religious, and social exchange that connected diverse regions of Eurasia.
The exhibition will remain open to visitors until 2 June 2026.
