Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - An event was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Japan dedicated to the upcoming elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, regional, district and city Kengashes of people's deputies, Dunyo reported.
The event was attended by citizens of Uzbekistan, temporarily residing and studying in Japan. It provided with detailed information on the preparations for the parliamentary elections, as well as their constitutional rights and obligations as citizens of our country.
Representatives of the Embassy in their speech noted that the elections are held under the slogan “New elections - a new Uzbekistan” and represent an important domestic political event that will play a big role in further democratization of the country, achieving strategic goals of sustainable development and strengthening civil society in Uzbekistan.
Particular attention was paid to the new Electoral Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, developed jointly with the OSCE Office for Democratic Freedoms and Human Rights (ODIHR) and the Venice Commission.
The compatriots were also informed that a polling station with all the necessary conditions for voting would be organized at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Japan. The participants of the event familiarized themselves with the procedure for conducting elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis in Japan.
