European analytical center to cooperate with the diplomatic mission of Uzbekistan in the EU

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Benelux countries Dilyor Khakimov met with the director of the European analytical center “Vote Watch Europe” Doru Francescu.

Vote Watch Europe was founded jointly with the London School of Economics and Political Science and the University of New York. The center has a large database covering the European Parliament and other institutions of the European Union.

Frantescu noted that “Vote Watch Europe” analyzes the decisions taken by the European Parliament regarding political events in the EU and other countries, as well as predicting the positions developed by the European parliament on issues of an internal and global nature.

According to him, the services of the analytical center are used by politicians, civil servants, representatives of non-governmental organizations, journalists, private companies. In particular, at the request of these structures, a team of analysts prepares reports on elections, the formation of coalitions, and various groups.

The Financial Times, Bloomberg, Euronews, Economist, CNN, BBC, La Stampa and other leading global media often use the Vote Watch Europe information base when preparing news items.

Concerning interaction with the diplomatic corps, the source said that his team is preparing analytical reports reflecting the views and positions of European parliamentarians on events in a country for diplomatic missions accredited to the EU. According to D. Francescu, this allows the diplomatic mission to tune in to work with factions, groups or individual European parliamentarians. The head of Vote Watch Europe expressed interest in implementing a similar model of cooperation with Uzbekistan.

At the meeting, it was agreed to hold regular meetings to exchange views on the development of cooperation with the European Parliament, prepare reports with assessments of European parliamentarians regarding ongoing processes in Uzbekistan and analyze the results of parliamentary elections in the country.
