Currently, the European Commission and Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of Uzbekistan are working on allocation of US$1 million grant to implementation of the project “Assisting to accession of Uzbekistan to the World Trade Organization”.
Within the project it is planned to study experience of member states and candidates to accession to the WTO, which have similar economic conditions like Uzbekistan, to mitigate negative consequences of membership to the organization.
The project will also help Uzbekistan to harmonize national legislation to the WTO rules and receive endorsements of the key WTO member states within multilateral and bilateral negotiations.
It is planned to hold sessions of the works groups on accession, educational seminars, conferences, roundtables, and other events.
