Etihad Airways Receives Approval for Abu Dhabi – Tashkent Flights
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Civil Aviation Agency of Uzbekistan has granted Etihad Airways permission to operate regular flights to the country, the agency’s press service reported.
The carrier is authorized to fly the Abu Dhabi – Tashkent – Abu Dhabi route, using Airbus aircraft models A320-232/251N and A321-231/251N/251NX.
Etihad had previously announced plans to expand its Eurasian network to seven cities. In addition to Tashkent, flights will be launched to Almaty (Kazakhstan), Tbilisi (Georgia), Yerevan (Armenia), Baku (Azerbaijan), Bucharest (Romania), and Medina (Saudi Arabia).
According to the airline’s schedule, flights on the Abu Dhabi – Tashkent route are set to begin March 17, 2026, with a frequency of six flights per week.
It is noteworthy that in autumn 2022, Etihad’s subsidiary Air Arabia Abu Dhabi had already announced flights between the capitals of Uzbekistan and the UAE, operating twice a week. The low-cost carrier, co-owned by Etihad, received flight approval from UzAvia in 2020 and launched the Abu Dhabi – Tashkent route. In the same year, discussions were held regarding expanding flights to other cities in Uzbekistan.
